Our story
The house the Bhat family built
Kongposh — the Kashmiri word for the cherry blossom that breaks Gulmarg's spring — is the house our grandfather built with timber floated down the Jhelum. Three generations later, we keep it the way he kept it: walnut wood oiled by hand, bread baked in the morning, and guests who leave as friends. In winter we ski; in summer we walk to the lake; every season we eat well.

March to April. The kongposh breaks across the meadows and the snowline retreats up Apharwat. Our quietest, loveliest season.

What lingers after the journey
We came for the snow and stayed for the house. The Chinar Suite's bay window with kahwa at dawn is the single best travel memory of our year.
Fell asleep watching snow through the skylight. Woke to the host knocking with bed tea. Booked next winter before checkout.
